Director of Marketing, Communications, and Creative Services

Stuart Hall School for Boys seeks a dynamic, creative, experienced, and collaborative leader to serve as the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Creative Services. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the Director leads the strategic communications and marketing plan to support and advance the institution’s mission and values across all aspects of school life. The Director understands the opportunities and challenges facing independent schools and possesses the skills, leadership, and vision to lead the communications, branding, and marketing of Stuart Hall School for Boys. As the School’s storyteller, the Director must be able to articulate the ethos of the classrooms, halls, and fields and drive the content pipeline to consistently create and deliver compelling communications.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer, a strategic thinker, a creative problem-solver, and a team player who rolls up their sleeves to get work done. The candidate must not only be a skilled and polished writer but also be able to work with a quick turnaround and have proven editing ability.

 

A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of prior experience leading and managing internal and external institutional communications and marketing are required (School experience is preferred). The Director of Marketing, Communications, and Creative Services will maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality and will have solid experience working as part of a team.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the School’s lead brand ambassador and champion for internal and external audiences.
  • Ensure all marketing and communications materials reflect the school’s mission and strategic initiatives and are timely, accurate, and compelling.
  • Set and regularly monitor annual and long-term strategic goals and manage an integrated marketing and communications approach for school-wide initiatives, while applying market research and analytics, and advise on current industry trends in communications and marketing.
  • Provide support to the Head of School and the Administrative Team on all communication, marketing, media, and public relations with specific attention to:
    • Update and oversee myKnights and the school website as Stuart Hall’s main communication portal in partnership with the Database Manager,
    • Design and implement marketing and communication strategies, advertising plan, and media buy, in partnership with the Director of Admission,
    • Design and implement marketing and communication strategies to deepen donor engagement and drive increased contributions, in partnership with the Director of Development,
    • Serve on the crisis team to lead and manage crisis communications, in partnership with the Head of School
    • Provide guidance and support for the communications needs and strategies of the Stuart Hall Parents Club, in partnership with the Parents’ Club Officers and Program Coordinator
    • Provide photography support for the annual publication of the yearbook with the yearbook moderator.
  • Design and implement marketing and communication strategies for the website, social media channels, and digital content/communications regularly.
  • Create robust content and develop the most promising practices for publications, print materials, e-newsletters, website stories, social media stories, and fresh video content.
  • Serve as editor of all printed and digital publications: Hallmarks, Stuart Hall School for Boys’ annual magazine, the Annual Report, Childpost, the weekly parent communication, etc…

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (design, fine arts, digital media, communications, or public relations preferred)
  • Demonstrated expertise in: writing, photography, design, and video production
  • Collaborative and team-oriented spirit and a willingness to take critique, direction, and feedback from peers and co-workers
  • Writing and editing proficiency
  • Proficiency with software such as Adobe CS (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn), Google Analytics, Canva; Familiarity with Blackbaud, Raisers Edge NXT is a plus.
  • Website design and function
  • Availability for night or weekend assignments for special events.

Salary and Benefits

Stuart Hall offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a benefits package with

401 (k) plan with employer contributions. Offers may be rescinded if a pre-employment drug test or background investigation is unsuccessful.
