Executive Director – ISAS Group Benefits Trust
The Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) Group Benefits Trust invites applications for the position of Executive Director. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a well-established, multi-school employee benefits trust serving 25 independent schools across Texas and Oklahoma.
Founded in 1989, the ISAS Group Benefits Trust is a self-funded, tax-exempt 501(c)(9) VEBA and registered MEWA, providing high-quality, cost-effective medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits to approximately 3,600 employees and 6,000 total insured lives. The Trust operates under strong financial and fiduciary oversight, maintaining specific stop-loss coverage and filing annual ERISA and regulatory reports.
Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the Trust’s chief executive and is responsible for:
• Overseeing all aspects of financial management, compliance, and governance
• Maintaining relationships with consultants, vendors, and participating schools
• Monitoring benefit plan design, renewals, and vendor performance
• Safeguarding PHI and PII data through robust network and vendor security practices
• Supporting the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee with strategy, planning, and reporting
The position is remote, with periodic in-person meetings in Dallas.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• At least five years of experience in health and welfare benefits administration, non-profit management, or related fields
• Strong analytical, communication, and compliance skills
• Professional certifications such as CEBS or GBA (preferred)
• Residency in Texas or Oklahoma
