River Oaks Baptist School is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to join our team as a middle school Math teacher beginning August 2026.

This teacher is responsible for teaching one or two grades of our middle school mathematics curriculum, which encompasses Math 5 (fifth grade), Math 6 and Pre-Algebra (sixth grade), Algebra 1A (seventh grade), and Algebra 1B (eighth grade).

This position reports to the Head of Middle School. All middle school faculty are supported by an experienced divisional team devoted to developing both students and faculty, including the Instructional Coach, Counselor, Learning Specialist, MS Dean of Students, Assistant Head of Middle School, Head of Middle School, Associate Head of School for Student Support, and Associate Head of School for Academics.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to five sections of middle school math, using engaging and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Serve as an advisor to a group of students, supporting their academic, social, and spiritual growth.
  • Sponsor a middle school club or activity to foster student interests and school engagement.
  • Motivate and engage students in the learning process while celebrating the joy and challenge of the middle school years.
  • Model and guide students in Christ-like values, fostering integrity, kindness, and compassion.
  • Attend and participate in weekly chapel services as part of the spiritual life of the school.
  • Employ current pedagogies, including project-based learning, design thinking, and differentiated instruction.
  • Deliver an innovative curriculum that thoughtfully integrates technology in ways that enhance learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continual improvement and the pursuit of excellence in teaching.
  • Support students in their learning
  • Participate actively in grade-level, departmental, divisional, and all-school meetings and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and shared student experiences.
  • Embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset for both students and self.
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with parents and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Supervise and chaperone student field trips to support experiential learning beyond the classroom.
  • Actively monitor students in the classroom by being present, attentive, and engaged to ensure a productive, safe, and respectful learning environment.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned, such as lunchroom and carpool supervision and monitoring grade level floor.
  • Follow established policies and procedures outlined in the ROBS employee handbook.
  • Develop and practice cultural competence, promoting respect, equity, and belonging within the classroom and school community.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled in-service sessions and mandatory employee training.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, self-reflection, and a deep delight in working with middle school students.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 24 hours in math and 12 hours of educational courses OR teaching certification for math and for the grade-level(s) applying.
  • At least two years’ full-time teaching experience.
  • A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment.
  • Successful completion of background checks and verification.
