Middle School STEM Teacher

Position Description:

Riverfield Country Day School (RCDS) in Tulsa, OK, seeks a skilled and dynamic STEM teacher who can teach at any middle school grade level. More specifically, RCDS is seeking an innovative teacher who thrives in teams and who sees their content as a piece of an interdisciplinary whole, applicable to real-world situations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Create an interactive learning environment that includes creative lessons and assessments;

Approach learning with a growth mindset, which involves significant feedback from teachers;

Provide opportunities for students to enter into academic dialogue through lively classroom discussion;

“Hands-on,” experiential and/or project-based teaching;

Collaborate to design interdisciplinary experiences and coursework

Establish regular and effective communication with students and parents;

Engage in regular professional development and identify growth-based goals;

Participate in required non-classroom activities including parent/teacher conferences, faculty meetings, special activities, and performance events;

Foster a confident and collegial atmosphere within the Middle School and actively encourage interdisciplinary opportunities with other colleagues.

Qualifications:

B.A./B.S. in Science, Math, or a related field

Ability to teach Middle School STEM at any grade level;

Passion for subject matter and for working with bright, motivated pre-teens and teenagers in a rigorous, innovative, college-preparatory environment;

Agility and flexibility to collaborate on cross-disciplinary projects and assignments;

Successful teaching experience in a classroom setting;

Independent School experience preferred.
