PT Spanish Teacher

The Branch School is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Part-Time Spanish Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about language instruction and enjoys working with young learners in a nurturing, child-centered environment.

Position Overview:
This role involves teaching Spanish to students in Kindergarten through 4th grade using a hands-on, interactive approach that promotes curiosity, engagement, and language acquisition. Classes are taught during the regular school day on a part-time schedule. The ideal candidate should be energetic, creative, kind, and have a passion for working with children. They should be able to interact with students, parents and colleagues in a professional manner that allows for collaboration and cooperation. Students at Branch are taught Spanish in all grades.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

  • Plan and deliver engaging Spanish lessons that incorporate games, music, storytelling, movement, and visual aids.
  • Foster a joyful learning environment where students are encouraged to speak, listen, and explore the Spanish language.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to integrate language learning with broader curricular themes.
  • Maintain clear communication with families and staff regarding student progress.

Supervision of Students

  • Establish and maintain a safe, positive, structured, and organized classroom environment that fosters respect, cooperation, and independence.
  • Implement appropriate classroom management strategies that align with our school model and encourage positive behaviors, problem-solving skills, and conflict resolution strategies.

Professional Development and Collaboration

  • Participate actively in professional learning communities, grade-level team meetings, and school-wide professional development sessions, both on and off campus.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset by seeking out and applying feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in early childhood education through professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferences.
  • Be open to feedback, peer observations, and mentorship opportunities.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Be willing to present at professional development sessions for colleagues, as needed.
  • Participate in school events, including Open Houses, parent meetings, and community-building activities throughout the school year.
  • Assist with school-wide initiatives, duties, and special projects as assigned by administration.
  • Collaborate with support staff, specialists, and administrators to ensure a holistic approach to student success.
  • Uphold and model the school’s mission, values and expectations for professionalism.
  • All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field required
  • Current Teaching certification
  • 2-3 years classroom teaching or teacher aide experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, Student Information Systems, etc.

This is a part-time, on-campus position during the school year. Specific hours and days will be determined in coordination with school leadership.

Physical Demands can include:

Reaching: Reaching above shoulder height to store and remove items

Walking: Walking on indoor and outdoor surfaces, including uneven surfaces

Climbing: Climbing steps or platforms to place or remove items from overhead storage

Moving quickly: Moving quickly in response to emergencies
