Position Title

Physical Education Teacher & Assistant Football Coach (Varsity Assistant / JV Head Coach)

Position Summary

This position is a full-time Physical Education teaching role, with football coaching responsibilities as a secondary assignment and additional coaching assignments in the Winter and Spring seasons. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality physical education instruction aligned with the school’s mission while contributing to the football program through coaching, player development, and program support. The role emphasizes student development, leadership, character, and consistent culture across academics and athletics.


Physical Education Teacher

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-based physical education instruction for assigned grade levels
  • Promote lifelong fitness, wellness, teamwork, and personal responsibility
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and school goals
  • Assess and document student progress and participation
  • Maintain classroom management and appropriate student supervision
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student growth and school initiatives
  • Fulfill all teaching, professional development, and faculty responsibilities as assigned

Football Coach

Football Coaching Duties

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and implementing practices, game preparation, and player development consistent with the school’s mission and values
  • Coach assigned position group(s) as a Varsity Assistant Coach and serve as JV Head Coach, providing instruction in fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies
  • Support game planning, scouting, film breakdown, and opponent analysis
  • Assist with football equipment inventory, distribution, and care
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, team meetings, travel, and team events
  • Promote positive sportsmanship, leadership, accountability, and character development
  • Assist with offseason programs, camps, strength and conditioning, and community outreach as assigned
  • Ensure consistent terminology, instruction, and program culture across all levels
  • Maintain clear and professional communication among coaches, players, families, and program leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field
  • Commitment to student development and school mission
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and coaching personnel

Preferred

  • Football coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level
  • Experience coaching a specific position group
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
