Purpose: The Episcopal School of Dallas seeks a chemistry teacher with a strong desire to inspire and encourage the learning of chemistry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Chemistry, Math, and STEM, and will be able to teach along the spectrum of course offerings to students with a variety of backgrounds and abilities. The successful candidate is also a lifelong learner who welcomes opportunities for professional development and collegial conversation aiding in the development of effective skills in the science classroom as well as an abiding appreciation of teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3+ years as a Upper School Science teacher
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Chemistry, or related field; Master’s degree desirable
  • Proficiency in educational technology and twenty-first century pedagogy
  • Experience designing and implementing a 21st Century science curriculum
  • Commitment to participate broadly in the life of the school
  • Possess a growth mindset
  • Skills to effectively collaborate with teachers

 

Essential Functions:

Teach four (4) sections, primarily consisting of On-Level Chemistry, with the potential to also teach a science elective if appropriate.

 

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Work closely with colleagues on the school’s curricular initiatives
  • Engage in reflective practice and professional development
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology
  • Support student learning by working with individual students before and/or after the school day

Provide integral and varied support, planning, oversight, and communication as a student advisor

 

 

Participate in and contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom

  • Serve as a club advisor and/or athletic coach.
  • Engage in professional activities and gatherings at team, departmental, divisional, and school-wide levels.

 

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Abuse Risk Management Standards:

  • Adheres to policies related to boundaries with students.
  • Attends required abuse risk management training.
  • Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising students.
  • Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.

Working Environment:

  • Generally 40% sitting, 40% walking and 20% standing.
