We are seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Assistant Pre-K Teacher to support our early childhood program serving children ages 3–5 years old. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, understands child development, and enjoys working collaboratively with lead teachers, students, and families in an independent school environment.
The Assistant Pre-K Teacher will help create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom that supports children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate learning activities and curriculum.
- Foster a warm, safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Support children's social-emotional development and positive behavior through respectful guidance and modeling.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, and transitions.
- Observe and document student progress and share observations with the Lead Teacher.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, learning centers, and educational resources.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and families.
- Participate in school events, professional development opportunities, and faculty meetings as required.
- Support the mission, values, and culture of the school community.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.
- Experience working with young children in a preschool, pre-kindergarten, childcare, or educational setting.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 3–5.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
- Ability to actively engage with young children throughout the school day.
Preferred:
- Experience in an independent school environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Experience supporting child-centered learning approaches, as well as structured learning for young students.
