Job Title: Lower School 5th Grade Math Teacher

 

Job Description

All Saints' Episcopal School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Lower School Fifth Math Grade Teacher to join our educational team. The fifth-grade math teacher will provide instruction, guidance, and support to students, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth while embracing our Episcopal identity.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement an engaging and aligned 5th grade math curriculum, delivering rigorous, grade-level instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and deep conceptual understanding.
  • Design and implement lesson plans aligned to the Lower School math curriculum using backward design, with clear learning outcomes and aligned assessments to guide instruction and ensure student mastery.
  • Use clear learning objectives, ongoing formative assessment, and student data to drive daily instruction, provide timely feedback, and meet individual student needs.
  • Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment with clear expectations that ensure students are actively engaged in meaningful and accountable learning.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, fostering character, self-confidence, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families, building trust while sharing student strengths, areas for growth, and progress toward grade-level expectations.
  • Facilitate Parent-Teacher Conferences (fall and spring).
  • Work in partnership with the 5th grade team to ensure aligned expectations for student behavior, routines, and overall student experience across classrooms.
  • Partner with co-curricular teachers to ensure consistency for students throughout the school day and to create meaningful cross-curricular connections.
  • Collaborate with the Middle School math department to support a smooth transition through alignment of key concepts and skills.
  • Incorporate the values and mission of All Saints’ Episcopal School into daily instruction and classroom life; attend and participate in Chapel and Eucharist services.
  • Participate in required meetings, professional development, and school events, including those held outside of regular school hours.
  • Demonstrate professionalism while contributing to a positive and joyful Lower School community, supporting colleagues and building strong relationships with students and families.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification preferred.
  • Proven experience teaching at the elementary level.
  • Strong understanding of effective instructional practices, including backward design, clear learning targets, gradual release, and ongoing checks for understanding to drive instructional decisions.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that promote active participation, critical thinking, and accountability for learning.
  • Collaborative team member who works effectively with colleagues, contributes to shared planning, and supports grade-level, divisional, and school-wide goals.
  • Strong commitment to the academic and character development of students.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology platforms such as Google Classroom, Canva, Outlook, and other school-required programs.
