Regis is seeking qualified candidates for the role of “Assistant Teacher” in the Lower School for the 2026-27 school year. This role reports to the Lower School Division Head.

Job Description – Assistant Teacher
The Lower School Assistant Teacher’s primary purpose is to assist the Lead Teachers at a designated grade level in creating an academically rigorous classroom environment that is nurturing and supportive. The educational environment that is established must be in accordance with the Goals & Criteria of the Sacred Heart mission.
Responsibilities
- Support the lead teachers at the grade level in creating and maintaining a classroom culture of well-being, safety, and physical, social, and emotional health.
- Work cooperatively with the lead teachers to provide developmentally appropriate, boy-centered instruction.
- Support differentiation through small-group instruction and large-group activities. This includes leading small groups of learners for literacy and math.
- Help Regis students begin to develop a healthy relationship with their growing minds and bodies.
- Share responsibility with the grade-level team in the preparation of teaching materials and the physical classroom environment.
- Assist with the grading of assignments, homework, and assessments.
- Be ready to assume responsibility for the classroom at any given time, if needed.
- Foster collaborative and positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Contribute to the overall effective operation of the Lower School program.
- Participate in faculty and department meetings and trainings, and perform various supervisory duties as needed.
- Attend school functions that support the school’s mission and vision, both during and outside the normal school day.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School and Lower School Division Head.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
- A minimum of two years of classroom experience, particularly at the elementary level.
- Experience in an independent school environment is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills; self-motivated and responsible.
- Diplomatic, tactful, and possessing the ability to show grace under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills; team-oriented.
- Flexibility and “can do” attitude toward supporting colleagues as needed.
- Positive and energetic, while maintaining a growth mindset.
- References that speak to strengths.
