Middle School Physical Education Teacher (Grades 5–8)
Phoenix Country Day School seeks a collaborative, student-centered educator to teach co-ed Physical Education in grades 5–8.
The ideal candidate is an engaging teacher who inspires students to develop confidence, physical literacy, teamwork, and lifelong habits of fitness and wellness. This person will create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages active participation, skill development, and a positive relationship with movement.
Responsibilities
- Teach co-ed Physical Education in grades 5–8 through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes physical literacy, confidence, and overall well-being.
- Design engaging lessons and units that build skills, encourage participation, and foster enthusiasm for movement and fitness.
- Teach and assess foundational movement skills, safe exercise practices, and habits that support lifelong health and wellness.
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all students.
- Serve as an advisor and support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, the Physical Education Department, and the Middle School faculty.
- Contribute fully to the life of the school community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required.
- Experience teaching Physical Education.
- Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, and student-centered teaching practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
