GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Supports the Director Of Information Technology in managing the school’s IT infrastructure and operations. Focuses on network and system administration, cybersecurity, and infrastructure reliability. Serves as second-in-command, providing leadership continuity in the absence of the Director Of Information Technology.
JOB SCOPE
Responsible for administration of IT systems and infrastructure across the school. Works independently to troubleshoot, maintain, and secure technology systems, while supporting the Director Of Information Technology with strategic initiatives. Collaborates closely with Information Technology team, faculty, and staff to ensure smooth technology operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures reliable and secure operation of networking, server, and cloud infrastructure throughout campus including internet access and proactively managing backup and recovery procedures
- Administers and maintains Microsoft Exchange, Azure, Intune, and Meraki systems for the school and serves as second level administrator
- Manages and monitors Verkada security systems including cameras and access controls
- Supports Microsoft 365, Blackbaud, and ManageBac platforms with system-level troubleshooting
- Assists the Director Of Information Technology with IT planning, budgeting, and project execution
- Supports the Director Of Information Technology in vetting and recommending new systems and tools
- Documents IT procedures, workflows, and infrastructure configurations
- Serves as escalation point for Technology Assistants for complex issues
- Oversees system security protocols, backups, and disaster recovery processes
- Provides leadership and assumes decision-making authority in the absence of the Director Of Information Technology
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to address technology needs in academic and administrative settings
- Maintains accurate inventories of hardware and software and up-to-date licensing
- Manages the installation, repair and maintenance of voice equipment
- Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and school-related IT best practices
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists with classroom technology setup and support as needed
- Provides training to Technology Assistants or end users on new systems or tools
- Participates in school-wide technology initiatives and events
- Attends school functions and meetings as outlined in the Employee Handbook, employment contract or as required
- Supervises children during carpool as needed
- Other tasks assigned by the Chief Information Officer or Head of School
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Ability to provide documents verifying authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must pass Criminal Background Checks, Reference Checks and Drug Testing
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years progressive IT systems/network administration experience
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Exchange, Azure, Intune, Meraki, and Microsoft 365
- Experience with Blackbaud, ManageBac, and Verkada security systems preferred
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or advanced certifications in systems/network administration or cybersecurity
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security+, or CCNA
- Experience in K-12 schools or higher education settings
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- No direct supervisory responsibility
- May provide leadership to IT associates in the absence of the Director Of Information Technology
JOB CONDITIONS
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time daily
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as at a computer keyboard
- Primarily office-based with frequent interaction across campus
- Must be available for after-hours support for outages, cybersecurity events, or school activities
- Participates in summer maintenance cycles, upgrades, and large-scale projects
- Occasional travel for professional development or vendor training
- May work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during carpool, special activities, and events

PAY RANGE
Pay is based on experience and is competitive with Independent Schools in the Dallas, Texas, area.
